What Do You Have in Common
with Elvis Presley?

If someone says to you, “You’re not like anyone I’ve ever met!” Thank them. And continue being your “original” stand out self.

Today is the birthday of one of the world’s most original icons. Happy birthday, Elvis! When Elvis introduced himself to the world, he was way ahead of the artists of the day. In fact, his originality lauded him a legend in his own time. Or as John Lennon put it, “Before Elvis, there was nothing.”

Pictures of Elvis Presley in my office. Elvis continues to inspire me since the first time I met him.

Elvis knew his talents, gifts and persisted in doing it his way from the beginning of his legendary career. Even when critics panned him and radio stations banned him, he sang and performed the way he wanted to present his style to the world. He would become one of the cultural icons in music influencing everyone from Johnny Cash to the Beatles to Bruce Springsteen and young performers today.

So, what do you have in common with Elvis? For starters, there is only one you. We are in the age of personality. People want the real you, not a look alike or sound alike. Your clients and customers want to know who you are. They want connection and engagement. Everything you say to an audience of one, or with each speech or presentation you deliver, people don’t want the “same old, same old” or veneer.

When The Jernudd Company coaches an executive, or a sales team, we show our clients how to tap into their natural abilities. We build on strengths and eliminate the distractions to showcase personality and messaging to emotionally connect. It is a game changer when you discover and develop your originality to lead, motivate and influence.

While your goals might not include becoming be a rock and roll star, you have the opportunity to rock your world by being true to yourself. Keep in mind, critics only count if they matter to you. If Elvis would have listened to everyone who tried to persuade him to sound, look and sing like the other pop starts of the day, well, he never would have been crowned the King of Rock Roll. Let’s celebrate the man, his contribution to the music world and his influence.

Whatever your goals are in this New Year, take the opportunity to present yourself, your dreams and vision. How you show up and create an impact with your originality, without conformity, are the qualities that can make a star performer in any industry.

What qualities do you have that make you an original stand out? And how are you capitalizing on them? We invite you to schedule a complimentary call to discover and develop your originality to present the best you this year! Email Programs@JernuddCompany.com to schedule.

Happy New Year! Rock on!
